Foy's lake
Foy's lake is a beautiful lake of Chittagong, Bangladesh
Foy's Lake, also known as Pahartalia (satellite town of Chittagong) lake is a man-made lake, famous for its picturesque beauty. It has become a world class family amusement place. A high hill near the lake's edge affords grand views of Chittagong and the Bay of Bengal.
Only 8 kilometers from Chittagong, here one can
enjoy boating
facilities. And it's a popular picnic spot. One can spend your leisure time in
a serene atmosphere of
lake and hills.
Early in the morning it's a nice time to visit. On a cool day, walking is pleasant in the denuded hills around the lake. There is a zoo here, but it's a wretched place.
It was
created in 1924 by constructing a dam across
the stream that came down from the hills in
the northern part of Chittagong. The purpose
of creating an artificial lake was to provide water
to the residence of railway colony. It was named
after Mr Foy who was a Railway engineer.
